I learned about photography in the dark room at Harrison College back in the 1980’s.  The sum total of my “formal instruction” was being shown how to load and develop a roll of black and white film and how to print a black and white photograph over the course of one afternoon, by a former member of the almost defunct HC photographic society. After that, I and the four other current students were left alone to “get on with it”. What happened after that was a long journey of learning black and white photography by trial and error. (Mostly error) . Over time, with much experimentation and reading many, many books a lifetime love affair with the artform emerged. I eventually became a professional photographer in 2009 and I have continued to work at improving my craft ever since. Trying to keep learning as I go.
