Colbert took up photography over 40 years ago but was in and out of it over the years, never taking it very seriously, until he visited a Ronnie Carrington exhibition at Queen’s Park Gallery in 2022.
After viewing the exhibition, he was inspired to take a more serious approach to his then sometimes hobby. It meant going back to the basics and starting over again. Back in 2005, one of the times when he played around with photography, Ronnie Carrington saw one of his images and suggested he should enter it in NIFCA. That silhouette of a man standing on a cliff won him NIFCA gold! Colbert has an interest in nature and heritage and in recent times he has turned his focus to black and white, and developing his skills in timelapse photography.
