Unlock Your Photos’ Full Potential in a photography editing workshop with Hugh Walker

This workshop is a companion to the ‘Introduction to Photography’ course held in 2024. It is specifically for new members of the Society who have not attended a formal course on photo-editing. 

We’ll cover editing techniques using primarily Adobe Lightroom and On1 Photo Raw software. The techniques that participants will be exposed to can easily be transferred to any of the popular photo-editing applications.

Key Topics:

• Importing Images: Learn best practices for organizing and importing your photos efficiently, including keywording and metadata management
• Fixing Initial Issues: Address common problems like noise, dust spots, and lens flares
• Cropping & Straightening: Master the art of cropping for impactful compositions and straightening horizons for a professional look
• Lens Correction: Correct for distortion and vignetting caused by different lenses
• Exposure: Fine-tune brightness, contrast, highlights, and shadows to achieve the perfect balance
• Color: Correct color casts, adjust saturation and vibrance, and explore black and white conversions
• Removing Offending Elements: Learn techniques for removing minor distracting elements 
• Exporting Images: Prepare your images for various platforms, including web, print, and social media, with optimal quality and file size.
