The Barbados Photographic Society (BPS) is proud to highlight the outstanding work of its members during the 2025 Remembrance and Independence ceremonies—an extraordinary period in the nation’s history marked by reflection, celebration, and the inauguration of Barbados’ new Head of State.

This year’s 59th Anniversary of Independence carried special significance, as it coincided with the installation of Barbados’ second President, The Most Honourable Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic. It was a moment of national pride, and the BPS photography team was once again entrusted with documenting the day’s events.
In the words shared by BPS President Mr Bradley Benskin:
“As we celebrate Barbados’ 59th Anniversary of Independence, and the installation of our new Head of State, I would like to acknowledge and commend the outstanding work of our accredited photography team. Their professionalism, dedication, and high standard of conduct throughout today’s Independence Day events — including the historic inauguration of our second President, The Most Honourable Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic — were truly exemplary.”
“The team represented the Barbados Photographic Society with distinction, capturing this important national milestone with skill and pride. Their contribution not only supported the success of today’s events but also reflected the values and excellence we stand for as a Society.”
The accompanying images show a selection of our accredited photographers on assignment, equipped and ready as they carried out their duties across the various ceremonial locations. Their presence ensured that these historic moments were preserved with clarity, dignity, and artistic care—continuing the Society’s longstanding tradition of service to Barbados’ cultural and national record.
From sunrise preparations to the concluding formalities, members demonstrated professionalism, teamwork, and meticulous attention to detail. Their collective efforts contributed significantly to the visual documentation of this pivotal chapter in Barbados’ journey as a proud and independent republic.
