On June 27, members of the Barbados Photographic Society gathered at Coffee Gully, St. Joseph, for an engaging and educational Macro Photography Workshop led by experienced photographer Niaz Dokrat.

After being shuttled into the gully, Niaz provided the group with a brief introduction and shared some valuable tips on macro photography techniques. With cameras in hand and a keen eye for detail, participants then set off to explore the lush surroundings in search of fascinating subjects—from tiny insects and colourful plants to intricate textures and other hidden natural treasures.

Throughout the workshop, Niaz remained close at hand, offering guidance and practical advice to members who encountered challenges. His willingness to assist and share his expertise ensured that photographers of all experience levels were able to improve their skills and capture memorable images.

The three-hour session was not only an opportunity to develop macro photography techniques but also to enjoy the camaraderie that makes the Barbados Photographic Society so special. Members looked out for one another, shared discoveries, and celebrated each successful capture along the way.

By the end of the workshop, everyone had made excellent use of the time and returned with an impressive collection of stunning macro photographs. It was a rewarding experience for all involved and a testament to the beauty that can be found by simply looking a little closer.
